Supporting Students Through an Important Stage of University Life
For many students from rural and low-income families, being admitted to university is an important beginning.
Once they enter university, however, tuition, books, accommodation, meals and everyday living expenses can place considerable financial pressure on their families.
Currently, a university student’s basic educational and living expenses are approximately RMB 20,000–30,000 per year. Internships, transportation, professional examinations, certification and other educational needs may create additional expenses.
Many students work hard to complete their studies through a combination of family support, part-time work and careful management of their living expenses.
How Does CRRS Provide Support?
CRRS currently provides annual educational sponsorship of:
RMB 4,000 for students studying within Guangxi
RMB 5,000 for students studying outside Guangxi
Priority is given to first-year university students.
The first year of university is an important transition from secondary to higher education. CRRS hopes to provide appropriate support during this stage, easing some of the financial pressure and helping students make a smoother transition into university life.
This sponsorship does not cover the full cost of a student’s university education. Students continue to meet the remaining expenses through their own efforts and other available resources.
Our purpose is not to replace the efforts of students and their families, but to offer practical support at an important stage of their education.
More Than Financial Support
In addition to educational sponsorship, the CRRS team also visits students to learn about their studies and daily lives.
In this way, educational support is not simply a financial contribution, but is also grounded in personal understanding and care.
Since 2003, the China Education Project has provided more than 20,000 instances of student sponsorship.

Educational sponsorship may not resolve every financial challenge a student faces, but it can help ease some of the pressure during an important stage of their studies.
